Live visuals and 270° projections for the MTV EMA Afterparty 2019 in Seville.

The brand identity for the 2019 EMA Awards in Seville draws inspiration from the long shadows on a summer evening, with the bold drama of Spanish Cinema. The live visuals continue this theme, using the shadow as the conceptual and aesthetic focus.

The shadow is the other side of the coin, the unseen and abstract. The afterparty is the other side of the event, a hidden sub-culture left to party through the night. As the sun goes down, friends head out to party. Here we play with horizons, turning the projection canvas into a responsive light source as the shadow is communicated through the shifting of light, creating new shadows and colours.

A flamenco dancer practising alone is represented through abstract balls and strips of ruffled fabric dancing above the ground. There is no figure just beautiful animated movement and ripples in fabric.

We celebrate and visualise the events that happen on the fringes of one evening, building a non-linear narrative that can be cut together to create a free-form abstract story.
